Prop. 15

Share

We victims of violent crime, our lives devastated by unknown suspects, wait for justice as our statutes of limitations run out, funding and resources for DNA testing being unavailable unless we know the perpetrators of our crimes. Super Tuesday dashed yet another hope for some vindication: Prop. 15 (the crime lab initiative) was defeated and slipped away without a whimper, buried beneath homosexual marriages, gambling casinos and cigarette taxes.

Perhaps my skewed priorities prevent me from understanding why we would not vote to provide better resources for solving violent crimes. Or maybe this vote illustrates that there are just not enough crime victims to make this issue a vital one--which is, at least, something positive.
