Simi Valley resident Alan J. Rice has been appointed regional vice president of Adventist Health and president of Adventist Health / Central California.

Rice begins his new responsibilities April 1. The region covers facilities in Sonora, Hanford, Selma and Bakersfield, where he will be based.

Adventist Health is headquartered in Roseville, Calif., and represents regional delivery networks in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington. The networks include acute-care facilities with clinics, outpatient facilities, medical foundations and home health agencies.

For the last 11 years, Rice has served as president of Simi Valley Hospital, a 225-bed acute-care facility.

Rice is an active board member of the Healthcare Assn. of Southern California and the Ventura County Division of the American Cancer Society, and is past president of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce.

He is also a member of the Simi Valley Sunrise Rotary Club.
