Guatemalan’s Suit Is Said to Get Hearing

Spain’s high court has decided to open an investigation into accusations of genocide lodged by Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu against former Guatemalan dictators, judicial sources said. The Madrid court plans to accept a request by Menchu, a Guatemalan human rights activist, to look into a series of massacres in the 1980s that could lead to possible charges and extradition bids for five generals and other senior officials, the sources said.
