Busting Media’s Stereotypes of Teenagers

* Re “Stereotype of Teens Flourishes Despite Reality,” March 19 column by Daisy Yu:

As a teenager, I’ve always felt that my peers and I have been misrepresented in some form by the media.

It’s refreshing to finally read an article that shatters any misconceptions that society holds for us; I completely agree with Yu’s opinion.

I can relate to everything she said and would be more than happy to dub her the spokeswoman of my generation.

Teenagers are not all about sex, sex, sex. Perhaps society will accept this fact and give us our chance to shine.

I hope to see more of Yu in future columns, as her positive voice speaks in a sense of affirmation and optimism that I believe most teens share.
