Biolase Technology Inc

The San Clemente manufacturer of medical, dental and other laser devices reported a fourth-quarter loss of $2 million, or 11 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1.6 million, or 10 cents a share, for the same quarter a year earlier. The recent loss included noncash charges of $862,413 from writing off product-development assets and reacquiring distribution rights. Sales more than doubled to $1.8 million. For the year, the company narrowed its loss to $4.8 million, or 28 cents a share, from $10.3 million, or 69 cents a share, in 1998. Sales rose to a record $7 million from $1.5 million.
