TheBrain.com Taps Andersen Exec as Chairman and CEO

* Peter Fuchs, a top executive at Andersen Consulting’s Strategic Services Group, has joined TheBrain.com as chairman and chief executive. The Santa Monica-based company makes visual information management software.

* Fox Sports Net named Chief Operating Officer Tracy Dolgin its president, the cable network said. The 40-year-old Dolgin replaces Jeff Shell, who two weeks ago was named president and chief executive of Fox Cable Networks, which includes FX, the National Geographic Channel and the Health Network. Dolgin, who will report to Shell and Fox Sports President David Hill, will oversee a sports channel that’s available in 70 million homes, up from 52 million in 1997.

* Chatsworth-based Leslie’s Poolmart Inc. appointed Donald Anderson executive vice president and chief financial officer. He formerly was CFO at Follett Higher Education Group, a college bookstore operator based in Oak Brook, Ill.

* First Consulting Group Inc., a Long Beach health industry information-technology consultant, has appointed Bruce Heagstedt and Laura Penland as vice presidents. Heagstedt, formerly of Lotus Development Corp., will serve in FCG’s systems development services organization; Penland, who was an executive vice president of client services at Kinetra, will serve in FCG’s health plan organization.

* E-commerce incubator Converge Global Inc. of Santa Monica has appointed Hamid Kabani chief financial officer. Kabani was a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche until he left to enter private practice at the end of 1998.
