On Sunday, The Times reported that “when the curtain rises at the Pantages . . . ‘Lion King’ will have its first full production in the United States outside New York,” a claim repeated on Wednesday by numerous radio and television reports on the box-office opening (“Disney to Turn Hollywood Boulevard Into Mane Street,” by Susan Freudenheim, April 30).

But before opening at Broadway’s New Amsterdam two years ago, “The Lion King” had a nice long run at the Singer Orpheum, the historic theater in downtown Minneapolis.
