Executives from more than 80 companies will attend a youth job fair Saturday in Simi Valley to offer full- and part-time summer employment.

The 14th annual Job and Career Fair, organized by the city, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Mountain Gate Plaza on Los Angeles Avenue, east of 1st Street.

Insurers, government agencies, fast-food restaurants, banks and grocery stores are among the employers expected to participate.

More than 1,500 youths and adults, ages 16 to 22, took part in last year’s fair, said Kristen Tignac, the city’s youth employment service coordinator.

“The job fair gives youths the opportunity to apply with numerous employers in one setting,” Tignac said.

Organizers ask that job applicants come with resumes and be prepared for interviews. Students are encouraged to dress well.

Representatives of the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley, which is looking to employ 60 youths to help with its summer programs, will be on hand, said club director Linda White.

“We use that as one of the methods of recruiting and bringing in the younger age groups,” she said.
