GARDEN GROVE
Guy Brown, a paramedic with the city’s Fire Department, begins a five-week disaster training program tomorrow outside the city of Kiev, about 40 miles south of Chernobyl in Ukraine.
Brown, one of six paramedics chosen statewide, will join 150 elite military and civilian team members for “Rough & Ready 2000,” a humanitarian effort for the Ukraine government. The U.S. team will train Ukrainians to deal with several types of disasters, such as collapsing buildings, floods and commercial airline crashes.
