Debevec to Join USC’s Technology Center

The Institute for Creative Technologies, the USC-operated Army research center that develops technology in conjunction with the entertainment industry, is expected to announce today that Paul E. Debevec has joined ICT as its executive director. Debevec, 31, is an award-winning computer visualist whose computer graphics techniques were used to create the “bullet time” effects in the movie “The Matrix.” The former UC Berkeley researcher won several awards last year for “Fiat Lux,” a computer-animated film that was included in the documentary “The Story of Computer Graphics.”
