From Times Wire Reports

Ethiopian troops continued their push into western Eritrea in an attempt to cut retreating Eritrean forces off from their main supply route and the rest of their army, a commanding officer said. Eritrea called Ethiopian claims of major gains “nonsense.” “The situation is very fluid, and there are no fixed positions,” an Eritrean presidential spokesman said in the capital, Asmara. In New York, diplomats continued to work on a proposed U.N. Security Council resolution. The U.S. wants an arms embargo on the two nations if they fail to adhere to a cease-fire, but Russia wants to demand only that the two governments cooperate with the Organization of African Unity, which has been trying to broker a peace deal.
