Half Day at the Races: Saturday morning, one of my favorite things to do is go to the races. Santa Anita is a daytime track, and in the summer there’s a season at Del Mar, which is the most beautiful park and has great club food. I own a horse, but I’m not a big player. I have kinda crappy horses. I have one right now called Arctic Flight, though he’s turning out to be kind of a dog. But like every actor, he’s one win away from being a champion.

Bit o’ Ball: I’d leave the park early enough to get to Dodger Stadium for an evening game. I’m not a big Dodger fan, but the spot that stadium is in is the most perfect place. But they still need to renovate the Dodger Dog. It’s the worst hot dog in the major leagues.

Spectator Sport: Assuming it’s sunny on Sunday, I’d go out to Malibu to watch the surfers at Surfrider Beach. And if the waves aren’t too big, I might throw a stick in the water and try not to get killed. I can get up on the board, but I’m not any kind of master. But if you’re lucky, you can see some world-class surfers out there.

Cuppa Joe: Then I grab coffee at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in the Malibu Colony Shopping Plaza. Best coffee on the Westside. Even though it’s a chain, this is the best one in the chain. Then I’d go to Zuma Beach, spread a towel and worship the sun. Or if I’m feeling ambitious, I’ll drive a little farther north.

Great Greek: Dinner Sunday is at Taverna Tony’s, a Greek restaurant with the most festive atmosphere in Malibu by far. Tony Koursaris is like an Old World restaurateur--he makes everyone feel welcome. There’s always musicians in there on Thursday through Saturday nights, and there’s a belly dancer. The Greek salad is phenomenal. There’s an item, grilled prawns, that is always a special, and they make a surprisingly good steak. And I hit the appetizers hard. Definitely make a reservation in the summer.
