Call for Chuck Quackenbush’s Resignation

Share

* Like thousands of others of Californians, I voted for Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush. I trusted his words and his promises. He has since violated those trusts. As a direct result, countless thousands of homeowners like myself have been forced to live in inadequate and substandard housing conditions since the 1994 earthquake.

Here at Devonshire Village Condominiums in Northridge, the damage is still visible after six years. Blue tarps cover the roofs to protect against the rain. Buckling and ruptured siding allows water intrusion into the interiors of the units. A buildup of dry rot formations creates termite infestation throughout the complex. And the horrors continue.

We are not alone in this nightmare. Other residents of Northridge, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Simi Valley, Valencia and Santa Monica have also had to pay the price. These residents are not looking for a handout. They only want what is rightfully theirs. These residents want their homes rebuilt. They want their lives restored and they want to become whole again. They will not wait another six years for this to happen.

All of the suffering was the result of greed and personal gain on the part of you, Chuck Quackenbush. It was not only your duty, but the power of your office that could have prevented this injustice from the very beginning.

It definitely appears that the insurance companies have you in their pockets. It looks like you’ve gone to bed with the good ol’ boys.

You have made a sham of the insurance commissioner’s office and a joke of the California insurance laws.

This is no longer an isolated outcry for justice. A movement for your resignation is developing from the grass-roots of the San Fernando Valley throughout the entire mainstream of California. This is, in fact, a declaration of war against the California insurance industry.

For what you have allowed to happen, for the terrible injustices you have committed, for the years of hell that you have put us through, we the people demand your resignation immediately.

Resign or face impeachment. Those are your options.
