TrafficStation Lands AT&T; Wireless Deal

TrafficStation is expected to announce a deal today with AT&T; Wireless to provide real-time traffic alerts to users of AT&T;’s new PocketNet service, which allows customers to receive data on their wireless phones.

TrafficStation, a Los Angeles start-up that sends traffic reports to Web sites, pagers, cell phones and personal digital assistants, will provide a basic level of its service to AT&T; free of charge, though the company will still make money on the deal if at least 3% to 5% of PocketNet users upgrade to a subscription version of the service, said President and Chief Executive Geoff Halstead.

TrafficStation has a handful of similar deals in the works as well, Halstead said.
