NIC Technologies in Westlake Village has formed a partnership with Employee Relations Inc. to provide online personnel services to state, local and federal government agencies through the Employee Relations Network.

The Employee Relations Network is a service network consisting of personnel consultants, researchers and information and technology for the human resources community.

“Government agencies can’t afford lawsuits resulting from negligent hiring claims or discrimination,” said Don Smeltzer, president of NIC Technologies. “Additionally, government has a mandate to demonstrate a zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination, harassment, drugs and violence in the workplace. Our alliance with ER will help us deliver a [product] that will not only protect government agencies legally, it will [also] liberate government employees from poor employment practices and help create better work environments for all.”

Stuart Barlow, president of Employee Relations Inc., said he advocates using the Internet to provide human resource services wherever possible.

“The days of filling out paperwork to manage personnel are gone,” Barlow said.

There are currently four core services provided through the Employee Relations Network: Internet-enabled job applications; online background checks; drug-testing management; and an employee hotline.

NIC Technologies, a division of NIC, creates e-government applications and services for local, state, federal and global governments.
