Social Security

* The Supreme Court’s recent rediscovery of the enumerated powers makes it a good time to point out that Social Security is unconstitutional. Let’s end it now. Allow those 50 and over to stay in if they wish, but drop it for everyone else. Realize that the money paid in so far has already been spent, so kiss it goodbye. Social Security payments are not coming out of some savings fund but out of current tax payments.

Finance the payments to those who stay in by cutting other unconstitutional federal programs such as the Department of Education, HUD and so forth. Realize that Social Security is a lousy investment. Anyone who saved and invested just the 12.4% of their pay now going to Social Security would have a very nice nest egg upon retirement.
