George A. Rendahl Jr.; Retired Store Owner

George A. Rendahl Jr., a retired electronics store owner, died Tuesday in a Ventura residential care home after a lengthy illness. He was 83.

Born June 1, 1916, in Denver, he moved to Los Angeles at an early age and in 1935 graduated from John Freeman High School. In the late 1930s, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Rendahl was an Army veteran of World War II, having fought in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign.

After the war, Rendahl owned and operated Buddy Sales, an electronics store in Reseda, for more than 30 years. He retired in 1981. His favorite things were ocean fishing boats and Chevrolet Corvettes, both of which he owned.

Rendahl was a 31-year Ventura County resident, having moved from the San Fernando Valley in 1969.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alice of Ventura; daughter Patricia Thompson of Ventura; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which is handling the arrangements. Services will be private.
