Tuesday evening’s shindig for the premiere of Touchstone Pictures’ rowdy action-comedy “Shanghai Noon” was a fantastic mix of East meets West.

Not married--Nina Jacobson, president of the Buena Vista Motion Picture Group, is not married to producer Tom Jacobson, as stated in a story about the premiere of “Shanghai Noon” in Friday’s Calendar. Tom Jacobson is married to producer Susan Arnold.

After the screening at the Mann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, guests were corralled into a parking lot on nearby Hawthorn Avenue that had been transformed into a re-creation of Carson City, Nev., circa 1881.

The menu was a mishmash of the exotic (Peking duck, sauteed eggplant with Chinese pesto, pan-fried noodles) and the robust (cowboy steaks, hearty chili and shoestring fries), catered by Tommy Tang’s. And firewater aplenty at the Carson City Saloon.

Guests included the on-screen duo Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, who brought girlfriend Sheryl Crow; “Ally McBeal’s” Lucy Liu, who plays the kidnapped Chinese princess Pei Pei; Brandon Merrill, a real-life rodeo champion turned model turned actress; and first-time director Tom Dey. Also on hand were Disney executive Nina Jacobson, with husband, producer Tom Jacobson; Bill Paxton; Stephen Dorff; and Luke Wilson, Owen’s brother.

The “live” entertainment included a shooting gallery, two caricaturists and four bemused-looking horses.

The film could be another feather in the cap of producers and Spyglass Entertainment partners Roger Birnbaum and Gary Barber, whose other credits for the Disney folk include Edward Norton’s directorial debut “Keeping the Faith” and last year’s blockbuster “The Sixth Sense.”
