Bond Initiative

Share

There is a petition drive to qualify an initiative that would change the percentage required to pass school bond measures from two-thirds to 55%. I own no property to be taxed and have no children in school, so I can speak objectively.

The people behind this measure would serve their cause more successfully (a similar measure failed) if they would openly tell the voters what the proposition entails.

Instead, they utter vague generalities about “accountability” and “improving education.” I have noticed this both in their TV commercials and in the spiels proffered by those collecting petition signatures. When I ask them what their measure is specifically about, they get quite defensive and testy. Isn’t this a species of fraud?
