Tarzana Woman Killed by Truck
The woman who was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver Saturday outside the city’s annual Cajun festival has been identified as Lora Jacobs, 38, of Tarzana.
Jacobs was pronounced dead at Simi Valley Hospital shortly after the 7:30 p.m. accident.
Her boyfriend, Gary Gillett, 41, also of Tarzana, was critically injured and Sunday night remained in the intensive-care unit at the same hospital.
The couple were crossing Los Angeles Avenue near Rancho Santa Susana Community Park, where the Cajun Creole Music Festival was held, when they were struck by a Chevy pickup.
The driver, Frank Padilla, 36, of Simi Valley was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. He remained in custody at the Ventura County Jail Sunday night in lieu of $12,500 bail.
