Planning commissioners have revised the city’s off-street parking ordinance to better regulate the parking of commercial vehicles in industrial and commercial areas.

The Police Department has received complaints from residents and property owners about commercial vehicles parked on undeveloped land, roadway shoulders and railroad rights-of-way. Commissioners voted 4 to 1, with Patricia Shoemaker opposed and commissioners Marv Reid and Keith Gibson absent, to add a section to the code prohibiting such parking, except for commercial vehicles parked on their company’s land.
