Free Seminar Helps Boost Study Skills

Middle and high school students can learn ways to improve their study and memory skills at a free seminar Monday at the Panorama City Branch Library.
Educational consultant Karen Abrams will discuss how to relax during a test, study for different types of tests and improve memorization.
“There’s a heavy emphasis on test preparation in today’s schools, so I’ll be talking to the students about time management and organizing their work,” Abrams said. “This makes them a much more confident student who has control over their life,” she said.
Her talk is based on a program called “Advanced Learning Skills” that she developed seven years ago with her partner, Jay Klusky, of Portland, Ore.
She said improving study skills can have a profound effect on a person’s life.
“Their relationship with their family and school improves,” she said. “It’s a wonderful, spiraling effect.”
The seminar will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the library at 14345 Roscoe Blvd.
