Jack in the Box Names New Chairman
Jack in the Box Inc., the hamburger chain that changed its name from Foodmaker last year, said Chief Executive Robert Nugent will take over as chairman from Jack Goodall, who is retiring after 37 years with the company.
Kenneth R. Williams, 58, was named president and chief operating officer. He is currently executive vice president of marketing and operations. The changes are effective Feb. 23.
Nugent, 59, succeeded Goodall, 62, as chief executive and president of the chain in April 1996.
The San Diego-based company, which changed its name in October 1999, has more than 1,634 restaurants in 15 states and employs 40,000.
Shares of Jack in the Box rose 69 cents to close at $26.69 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Callaway Golf Co., the top U.S. maker of golf clubs, said founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Ely Callaway will remain indefinitely in his current roles while taking on the title of president.
The Carlsbad-based maker of Big Bertha golf clubs said it formed a committee of top executives to assist Callaway in operating the company.
The company said the committee was formed as a result of the U.S. Golf Assn.’s 1998 decision to break from the measuring standards of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland. Those standards measure the efficiency with which a club transfers the energy from a golfer’s swing to a golf ball.
Callaway’s Big Bertha ECR and ECR II drivers are currently in violation of USGA’s standards.
Shares of Callaway Golf rose 31 cents to $16.88 on the NYSE.

Erik Flannigan has been named senior vice president for all of the non-Disney branded entertainment Web sites of Walt Disney Internet Group.
In his new role, Flannigan will be responsible for managing ABC.com, Mr.Showbiz.com, Movies.com and Wall of Sound. He will also be involved in developing broadband entertainment content for Disney’s Internet business.
Promoted from vice president of the Mr.Showbiz, Movies.com and Wall of Sound sites, Flannigan will be moving from Walt Disney Internet Group’s Seattle office to Los Angeles.
He will report to Richard Glover, executive vice president Walt Disney Internet Group.
