The Planning Commission will meet Wednesday to consider the city’s 2000-05 Housing Element--a five-year study of local housing needs and projections required by the state.

Commission members will consider the report, which projects a need for about 1,040 new affordable housing units to be built by 2005.

Possible locations for some of those homes include 60 units scattered within the Town Center, 88 units at the southwest corner of Valley View and El Cajon avenues, 35 units at the southeast corner of Imperial Highway and Eureka Avenue, and 94 units on the east side of Lakeview Avenue, south of Lemon Drive.

Commissioners will hear a report on the housing element and consider whether to recommend its approval to the City Council.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
