County Pharmacists Walk Out Over Contract

Share

About 100 Los Angeles County pharmacists launched a two-day walkout Monday as they moved toward the third month without a contract.

Negotiations between the county and the Guild for Professional Pharmacists are at an impasse over pay issues. Union officials say their members deserve raises over the 14% to 20% the county has offered, because they are underpaid compared to private sector pharmacists. The raises offered by the county are over three years.

This is the pharmacists’ third two-day walkout. As it has the other two times, the county used pharmacists from Rite Aid to fill outpatient orders, and reassigned workers in their hospitals and health centers to handle internal medication orders.
