Advanced Photonix Posts Gain in Net Sales

Advanced Photonix Inc. in Camarillo said net sales for the second quarter ended Sept. 24 were $1.8 million, an increase of 10% from $1.6 million reported in the second quarter last year.

The company reported net income of $25,000, with no gain per share, compared with a net loss of $443,000, or 4 cents per share, in last year’s second quarter.

Company officials said the most recent results are due to a higher volume of sales to both the military and industrial market segments. In addition, the company has seen an increase in engineering design revenue, utilizing existing staff and lower material costs to achieve higher profit margins.

Advanced Photonix is a high-technology company that designs and manufactures silicon photo diodes and other optoelectronic products.
