Endocare Cleared to Sell Cancer Treatment

Endocare Inc., an Irvine developer of temperature-based treatments for prostate cancer and obstruction, said Tuesday that it has received federal clearance to market its CryoGuide system for use with its CryoCare procedure for treating cancer.

The company said in a news release that CryoGuide is a software-controlled ultrasound planning and mapping system that lets surgeons visualize target tissue in three dimensions. The system allows for more precise placement of probes used to freeze and destroy the cancerous tissue.
