Granada Hills 30, Westchester 12--Bobby Baca passed for two touchdowns and Robert Ortega rushed for 84 yards and one score to help the Highlanders upset the No. 3-seeded Comets at Westchester.

Granada Hills (8-3) took a 16-0 halftime lead, but Westchester (9-2) pulled within 16-12 with two third-quarter touchdown runs by quarterback Jason Benson.

The Highlanders put the game away with a strong fourth quarter. Joey Rodriguez scored on a two-yard run with eight minutes to play and Baca completed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Guillermo Garcia with just under four minutes left.

Granada Hills, which will play Banning in the second round Wednesday, stopped Westchester on two fourth-and-short plays in the first half.

Ortega, who finished with 22 carries, scored on a 31-yard run to cap the Highlanders’ opening possession.

After a 29-yard field goal by Gilbert Chavez early in the second quarter gave Granada Hills a 10-0 lead, Baca connected with Bryan Wilson on a 13-yard scoring pass with six minutes left in the half. Chavez’s extra point hit the left upright.

Baca completed nine of 19 passes for 138 yards. Rodriguez had three catches for 71 yards.
