Three companies are recalling about 243,000 bicycle helmets because they failed government impact testing.

Variflex, of Moorpark, Calif.; NHS, of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and First Team Sports, of Anoka, Minn., have not received reports of injuries, but they are recalling the helmets as a precaution, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Friday.

Most of the recall--about 240,000 helmets--concerns Variflex’s “X-Games Aggressive” helmets, which can be returned to stores where purchased for a refund or replacement helmet. More information is available from Variflex at (800) 248-5327 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. PST Monday through Friday.
