Mick Jagger has been in Los Angeles filming a role in “The Man From Elysian Fields,” an independent feature starring Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies, Julia Ormond and former rock singer Michael Des Barres, and directed by George Hickenlooper. Jagger plays the proprietor of a male escort service. . . .

Following their limited-edition, vinyl-only debut, Beastie Boy Adam Horowitz and friend Amery “Awol” Smith have re-teamed as BS2000 for “Simply Mortified,” an album of lo-fi electronic pop, due from the Beasties-owned Grand Royal label in February. The duo will also go on its first tour starting at the same time. . . . Minneapolis’ Semisonic is finishing “All About Chemistry,” due March 6, to follow up its 1998 album “Feeling Strangely Fine,” which featured the big hit “Closing Time.” . . .

Producer E-A-Ski, who’s worked with Master P, Ice Cube, TLC and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, among many others, has signed a production deal with hip-hop label Ark 75, with the first album expected to be his own debut as a performer. N.W.A’s MC Ren is among the guests on those sessions. . . . *
