Some food for thought: While you’re stuffing your turkey this week or stuffing yourself on Thursday, bear in mind the importance the Thanksgiving holiday bears on the family.

The City Council has proclaimed today through Saturday as National Family Week to recognize the role of the family in helping to build a strong community.

“The family is the basic strength of any community,” Mayor Christina L. Shea said. “It is in the family that America’s youth are nurtured and taught the values for their success and happiness in life.”

In observance of the holiday, City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, as will all local schools.
