A 23-year-old Valencia man was killed early Sunday morning when his car sped off a winding road and rolled over about 10 miles north of Santa Clarita, authorities said.

A member of the California Conservation Corps discovered Darren Bullock about 7 a.m., lying outside a 1997 Honda Civic overturned beside San Francisquito Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Becky Lynch said. The accident scene is in an unincorporated portion of Los Angeles County northeast of Castaic Lake.

The Highway Patrol estimated that Bullock had been dead since about 1:30 a.m. He apparently was ejected from the car on the last of the three times it rolled over, Lynch said.

“We believe he lost control due to excessive speed,” Lynch said. “He was not wearing a seat belt, and we are still investigating the possibility of drugs or alcohol being involved.”

Bullock was alone in the car, and there were no other cars involved, Lynch said.
