Nevada Bob’s Golf Inc., the nation’s largest golf-supplies chain, said it sold 36 of its 83 company owned stores as part of its bankruptcy reorganization. Nevada Bob’s sold 17 stores--including stores in Torrance, Canoga Park, Arcadia and Anaheim--to Tri-Capital Ventures, based in Arlington, Texas. In a separate deal, Nevada Bob’s sold 19 stores--including those in Sacramento and San Leandro--to New Golf Holding Co., a Concord, Calif.-based firm headed by Richard Oldenburg, who founded golf club maker Orlimar Golf, the company said. Both buyers received the right to keep using the Nevada Bob’s Golf name. The chain is based in Calgary, Canada, and its U.S. operations are based in Dallas. Last month the company filed for reorganization under bankruptcy laws in both countries because of operating losses and heavy debts. Besides its company-owned stores, Nevada Bob’s has 152 franchised stores that were not affected by the bankruptcy filing.
