A 24-year-old Oxnard man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend’s son during a fight, authorities said Sunday.

Elario “Larry” Rodriguez was being held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Bail was set at $100,000.

All of the injuries were minor, authorities said.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, Rodriguez began arguing with Arturo Aguilar, 23, at a home in the 3600 block of Orange Drive. Rodriguez dates Aguilar’s mother, authorities said.

During the quarrel, Aguilar was stabbed in the left side of his chest.

Deputies said they found Aguilar in the living room and Rodriguez hiding near the rear of the house.

Aguilar was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and released. Rodriguez, who also suffered minor injuries in the fight, was treated at Ventura County Medical Center and then booked into jail.

The cause of the fight was under investigation, but preliminary reports indicate alcohol was a factor.
