Athletic shoemaker Nike Inc. is being sued for allegedly interfering with another company’s efforts to sell a patented shock-absorbing device that reduces impact on the body. Nike claimed LL International Shoe Co., a small, minority-owned shoemaker based in Los Angeles, stole trade secrets and other intellectual property. LL International Shoe, best known by the brand name “DaDa,” filed its suit in response to two letters sent by Nike’s attorneys. LL International said it is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. It claims Nike has interfered with plans to sell a new athletic shoe that contains the shock-absorbing device. A Nike spokeswoman couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
