The city has agreed to buy 32 nostalgia-themed street lights that blend with the downtown’s historic feel. Eight of the lights, which are nearly 10 feet tall and topped with a globe-shaped lamp, will be installed in Plaza Park. Sixteen street lights that tower to 27 feet will be placed around the park. Both types of lights have carved poles and bases. The lights, which cost a total of $180,000, are expected to be installed in March. The work is part of an effort to spruce up the downtown area.
