Support Pours In for Burn Victim

Share

Friends of a Simi Valley woman hospitalized with severe burns after a fire damaged her condominium say the phone has hardly stopped ringing since the weekend incident.

Calls have been pouring in for 42-year-old Belinda Tristan, who is a patient in the burn intensive care unit at USC Medical Center. Tristan has also received about 20 visitors each day since the Saturday blaze, according to Donna Page, her friend of 15 years.

To help Tristan get back on her feet, Page and other friends have established a fund at Camarillo Community Bank to assist her.

“She completely lost her home and is in terrible physical shape, so when she gets home, we will release the funds to her so she can get a new start on life,” said Linda Wohlfahrt, a Camarillo resident who spearheaded the effort to start the fund.

Tristan remains in critical condition with second- and third-degree burns to about 42% of her body, said Adelaida De La Cerda, a hospital spokeswoman.

Those interested in donating can make checks payable to the Belinda Tristan Burn Fund at Camarillo Community Bank, 1150 Paseo Camarillo, Camarillo, CA 93010-6005. For additional information, contact Wohlfahrt at 659-6678.
