As a way to enhance neighborhoods and help low-income families meet their housing needs, city officials are applying to participate in the Community Development Block Grant Program and the Home Improvement Partnership Plan. Council members have approved the latest application to seek $405,185 for fiscal year 2001-02 and $455,185 for fiscal year 2002-03. The funding would give the city money for the Family Resource Center (a program that provides residents with such things as parenting classes and health screenings), multifamily and single-family home rehabilitation programs and other neighborhood-enhancement efforts.
