Online delivery company Urbanfetch.com said it called off negotiations to be acquired by competitor Kozmo.com, partly because of concerns that it would “jeopardize the momentum” for its profitable Urbanfetch Express business, which delivers packages to corporate clients. The company’s chief executive, Ross Stevens, left open the possibility that it may shut down its consumer-oriented service. Stevens said Urbantech officials didn’t believe that Kozmo had a profitable business model. Sources familiar with the deal said Kozmo called it off after reviewing Urbanfetch’s financial statements. Both are privately held companies. Kozmo, based in New York, operates in 11 cities, while Urban Fetch, also based in New York, has operations in London, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Kozmo officials declined to comment on the negotiations.
