L.A. Times Appoints VP, Planning

* Kim McCleary La France has been appointed vice president, planning, at the Los Angeles Times, reporting to Publisher John Puerner. McCleary La France, 47, will be responsible for overseeing development of the paper’s strategic plan. She previously served as vice president, distribution/customer service at The Times.

* R. Judy Linville has been promoted to chief financial officer at Daniel Freeman Hospitals, which operates facilities in Inglewood and Marina del Rey. She had been serving as interim CFO.

* Los Angeles-based DES, a media technology company, has appointed Sean Sullivan senior vice president and chief sales officer. He is a former broadcast sales and services exec at Teleglobe Communications Corp. in Reston, Va.

* Matthew Turner, a veteran management consultant, has been promoted to principal at SCA Consulting, a business consultancy. Turner will be based in Los Angeles.
