At the Pre-National Cross-Country Invitational:

Nilsson finishes 33rd--UC Irvine senior Kareen Nilsson completed the 6,000-meter course at Iowa State in 21:54 to finish 33rd in field of 371 runners.

Brigham Young won the women’s team competition, with UC Irvine finishing 26th in the 56-school field. UCI freshman Julie Manson finished 121st in 22:45.

Jon Doroski was the top men’s finisher for UC Irvine, recording a time of 32:42 over 10,000 meters to finish 148th out of 360 runners. The Anteaters finished last in a field of 53 teams.

At the Triton Invitational:

Concordia women win--Concordia, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, placed three runners among the top 10 to win at UC San Diego.

Concordia’s Tricia Mattson finished second overall in 18:33 over the 5,000-meter course. Concordia’s Rachel Lafady (sixth, 18:56), Christy Ide (seventh, 19:06) and Mindy Brown (eighth, 19:19) also finished in the top 10.

The Concordia men finished eighth. Fabio Mathias was the Eagles’ top runner, finishing 12th in 26:51 over 8,000 meters.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:

Biola 2, Concordia 0--Host Concordia (4-11, 2-4) managed just three shots. Concordia goalkeeper Ryan Hopkins made five saves.

Vanguard 3, Cal Baptist 1--Andres Morgante scored two second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie for host Vanguard (7-4-1, 4-1-1).

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s soccer:

Concordia 2, Biola 0--Heather Hoffman and Evelyn Miles scored first-half goals and goalkeeper Crystal Rodriguez made three saves for host Concordia (10-4, 2-3).

In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 3, Cal State Fullerton 1--Be Holcombe had 15 kills, Leilani Williamsen 13 and Megan Sabo had 11 for host Fullerton (6-13, 1-6), in a 15-6, 15-7, 13-15, 15-7 loss.

UC Santa Barbara 3, UC Irvine 0--Danielle Bauer had 20 kills and 16 digs to lead UC Santa Barbara (14-4, 8-1) to a 15-10, 15-6, 15-8 victory. Brooke Rundle had 38 assists, two aces, seven digs and two blocks for the Gauchos.

Larissa Carter had 11 kills for the Anteaters (6-9, 1-6).

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s volleyball:

Azusa Pacific 3, Hope International 0--Kelsey Rolls had eight kills and Megan Kerr had 34 assists for Hope (4-19, 0-12), which lost, 15-8, 15-5, 15-1.

Concordia 3, Vanguard 1--Carrie Merritt had 19 kills and Theresa Gunsaulus had 103 assists as visiting Concordia (16-9, 5-7) won, 15-9, 15-13, 11-15, 15-12. Megan Godfrey had a match-high 23 kills for the Lions (2-14, 2-10).
