American Vanguard Corp. in Newport Beach said one of its subsidiaries has agreed to buy a manufacturing facility in Alabama from DuPont Co. Terms weren’t disclosed.

The facility, called C-Unit, is one of three such units on DuPont’s 500-acre complex in Axis, Ala. The multipurpose plant produced the Fortress corn soil insecticide that American Vanguard’s unit, Amvac Chemical Corp., purchased from DuPont Crop Protection earlier this year.

The acquisition, which is subject to a definitive agreement, is expected to close by the end of the year.
