FOUNTAIN VALLEY
The city has proclaimed this week as Red Ribbon Week, conceived after an incident in 1985 in which federal Drug Enforcement agent Enrique Camarena was murdered by drug traffickers in Mexico.
In Fountain Valley, the week represents a commitment to a drug-free community by a coalition that includes parents, youths, schools, religious institutions, businesses, law enforcement, senior citizens, service organizations, media, and medical and social service agencies.
