No Charge in Fatal Shooting by Officer

From Times Wire Reports

A Prince George’s County, Md., police officer who fatally shot a man after trailing him from Maryland into Fairfax County, Va., will not be charged with a crime because the officer--Cpl. Carlton Jones--reportedly feared for his life and acted in self-defense, Fairfax prosecutor Robert F. Horan Jr. said, although he acknowledged that police were following the wrong man. The decision infuriated but did not surprise the family of the 25-year-old unarmed victim, Prince C. Jones Jr., who was unrelated to the shooter, because Horan had risen to the officer’s defense in earlier statements.
