Judiciary Closes 3 More Newspapers
From Times Wire Reports
Iran’s hard-line judiciary has ordered three more newspapers closed. Mihan and Sepideh Zendegi, both weeklies, were ordered temporarily closed Monday, state-run radio said. The weekly Sobh-e-Omid was ordered closed Sunday. “The three papers have been ordered closed for violating the press law,” the radio quoted the judiciary as saying. The judiciary, which has ordered the closure of more than two dozen reformist publications since April, is controlled by foes of reforms initiated by President Mohammad Khatami.
