Westcorp

The Irvine financial services holding company whose principal subsidiaries are WFS Financial Inc. and Western Financial Bank, reported earnings of $18.2 million, or 57 cents a share, for the third quarter, 21% higher than the $15.1 million, or 57 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier.

The WFS Financial unit reported record earnings of $17.3 million, or 61 cents a share, up from $12.7 million, or 49 cents a share, a year earlier.
