Plus-Size Clothes Need Models to Match

The idea is good, but the execution--now, that could use a little more thought.

Alight.com (https://www.alight.com), a new Web retailer for plus-sized women, offers a large selection of stylish clothes in sizes 14 and up. It also boasts the exuberant Star Jones of the ABC talk show “The View” as its spokeswoman.

But as you click around the site, it becomes evident that something is off: Either the featured clothing is really slimming, or the models just don’t represent the clientele. Some are in the right size range, but none are on the upper end of the scale, which makes it tough to tell if the outfits would actually flatter a fuller figure.

But if you can get past this, alight.com is one of the better resources for the newest fashions that actually fit--a necessity, says Jones, because “life’s a banquet, and we deserve something marvelous to wear to it.”
