Sessions to Discuss Military Academies

Share

Ventura County teens or young adults interested in attending West Point or another U.S. military academy are invited to one of two recruiting sessions being hosted by Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley).

The first informational session is scheduled for Wednesday at Royal High School in Simi Valley. The second will be held Thursday at Oxnard High School on Gonzales Road in Oxnard. Sessions will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Representatives from each branch of the military will be on hand to answer questions.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, ages 17 to 21.

Early next year they will be evaluated on academic performance, leadership, physical ability and the overall impression they leave with interviewers--who will be members of Gallegly’s Academy Selection Board. As a member of Congress, Gallegly can nominate a limited number of candidates for openings at military academies.
