Fluor, Partner Land $38-Million Contract

Fluor Corp. in Aliso Viejo, a worldwide engineering and construction company, said Monday that a major Mexican cement supplier has awarded a $38-million contract for a cement plant to a Fluor joint venture.

Fluor said in a press release that ICA Fluor Daniel, a partnership with Empresas ICA in Mexico, will provide construction and electro-mechanical installation on the project, in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico. The facility, an expansion of a cement plant, will add 1.25 million tons per year to the plant’s total cement production capacity.

The Apasco Group, the second-largest producer of cement and ready-mixed concrete in Mexico, awarded the contract. The company is majority-owned by Holderbank Canada, the world’s leading cement supplier.
