AT&T; Wireless Group, the mobile-phone business of AT&T; Corp., said it’s cutting prices for the popular Digital One Rate plan, matching some rates of rivals Verizon Wireless and other competitors. The new plans, effective today, reduce the monthly rates and increase the number of minutes covered by each rate. The new plans range from $59.99 for 450 minutes to $199.99 for 2,000 minutes, the company said. Previously, Digital One Rate offered 300 minutes for $59.99, 600 minutes for $89.99 or 1,400 minutes for $149.99. AT&T; introduced its plan in May 1998 and has signed up 2.4 million customers. AT&T; Wireless Group, the tracking stock of AT&T; based in Redmond, Wash., closed up 8 cents at $26.08 on the NYSE.
